Dear Members,
First I want to thank all of you for your help and contributions to this forum. After your efforts, we now have 16 members. I am happy that all of you are actually enjoying it.
At the time I created this forum which was 5 days ago, I did not think too much. I just thought that “why we don’t have a forum and share our things there.”
When I tried to promote the forum on fb, I was criticized by two of my friends. I must thank them; otherwise I would not be able to write this thread.
First one said “why you don’t have your own forum?” He meant that you own the whole thing not just use other company’s server and files, and only be able to do simple settings. He also meant that why we don’t use our own domain instead of using some random numbers.
The second one said “I don’t understand your forum”. He meant that we have fb and msn, why we need a forum.
To the first one, I think that if we have enough members, I am willing to rent a server and register a domain.
To the second one, I think that he did not quite understand what a forum does. However I quite understand why he thinks in this way, because when he comes into our forum, he got nothing to be interested in and he does not know the people here.
I am not the only founder of this forum. You are also the founders. Without all of you, I am the only person talking to myself here.
I want all of you to decide the future of this forum. Not just I decide.
Do you want this forum to be public?
Or
Do you want this forum to be just within our network?
These two options do not seem to be contradictory at all; you may say yes, we can do both.
But which direction we go for will decide what we have to do. What we have to do for the first and the second will be totally opposite.
In my opinion, the second option will eventually lead the forum to close. I don’t know how long it is going to take but that will be outcome. Why? Because our network is limited. What we can share is limited, and eventually everyone will just leave and go back to fb and msn. Therefore what my second friend said is totally true. Don’t say the members will quit, as a admin I will eventually get bored and quit too. Because we always got that much members online and we always talk about the same things, why we don’t just use fb and msn? Fb and msn is better, you got more friends there to talk to too.
I don’t mind that you choose the second one, because I don’t really know when this will end, maybe in 2 months? 6 months? 1 year? I don’t know. We can still enjoy it during this period.
If you choose the first one however, what we have to do is completely different. From now on, we are actually like a company. We have to work together to build and promote this forum. Someone need to do the marketing, someone need to maintain the forum, someone need to moderate the boards. We also going to have our own logo.
In this way, our forum is going to get bigger and bigger. Gets more and more members to share their experiences and information.
Why we have to do this, because you are the one that control your network not msn or fb.
I dare to say that in the future, your network is going to be huge and the information that you have in your brain is going to be huge. How huge are they going to be? You decide.
Kindest regards,
Brian
I'd love to watch this forum grow and be as successful as other forums like discuss.com / uwants... and if we are reli gonna work this out, i'm more than happy to help! Meanwhile, we can do some research as to how to make this forum sucessful.. i'll try come up with something and if i've any thoughts, i'll put it on and share with everyone to see how it goes... :)
Hi Brian
First of all congratulations with the work you've done on this forum, its looking really good
. Your brainchild is really taking off! haha. Good job buddy
.
I don't have a preference as to whether we go public or not as long as people stay active on the forums! I'm just here to have some fun and hope that everyone gets into it :)
As to our random domain name, I actually don't mind it haha, it adds to the charm of our forum haha but I guess if you want to go public then something a little more appealing might be necessary!

---- *EDIT*----
I change my mind! I think i'd prefer it to be private! haha. I think it will be more fun if its kept informal so we can all feel at home and have a bit of a laugh while we get to know each other etc. and then we don't have to be too worried about rules and what not. we can just have a bit of fun! which i personally think is the main attraction of this forum. but you know thats just my 2 cents.
ANYWHO
I'm really looking forward to seeing the forum grow! and I'll be happy to help out where I can.

Actually my purpose is quite simple, I want some of you at least, can help me to work on this forum. Do a little bit more, to design and initiate topics, to be moderator and to help us to promote this forum.
If we want this forum to be just for our network. That is quite simple too, just talk. Don't need to 'waste' too much time like above.
